16.3.16 CIRCLES & SPLATTERS JOURNAL PAGE- Inspired by the very talented, Athanasia Papantoniou
I am always inspired by other artists, and I have recently come across Athanasia's work on the Finnabair & Friends Community Facebook Page. She did this amazing black Art Journal page and I created one of my own using her page as inspiration, Mine doesn't look quite as amazing as hers, but I do like the way it turned out and my class of ladies, loved it and put their own spin on it again!  I did ask permission from Athanasia before posted pics and taught it to my class! Always good Etiquette to show respect to other Artists and their work!
(Image shows a work in progress!)

25.1.16 DREAM BELIEVE PAGE
Another of my pages I created to teach in class, this one's a favourite! I've been asked a few times for the instructions, so I have created a tutorial on my blog home page, click the this link .

4.12.15 MY VERY FIRST ABSTRACT CANVAS-Inspired by the previous Art Journal, Dylusions page:

Love the Dylusions, the brightness of them is so yummy. This is a practice run, as I have been commissioned by a friend to paint a larger canvas in the same style. I learned a few things during the process of this one, like make sure you paint with the lightest colour first, I kind of knew that, but yellow appeared after a few other colours for some reason, so the blending could've been a little better. There's some stencilling and texture paste on there, a little bit of stamping and I am overall quite happy with the end result!!!

14.9.15 Discover Art Page

Have had alot of Art Journalling fun this week and a few revelations!!! I was inspired by an artist on Pinterest, TRACY SCOTT, who's work you can see here on Flickr . I love her whimsical style and Bright, Bright colours. The page I started with, ended up totally different , but had a go at some fun techniques and there were several stages to this page!!!

The first image is my first layer, (after I primed my page with Gesso!) Look at these yummy Dylusions paints. So bright, i love them.

I then added some shading with black acrylic paint as you can see in some areas, followed by some Newsprint stamping, in photo above. Then I did some stencilling and bubblewrap stamping with some Ranger Distress paint dabbers. By now, I was really in love with this page!
This bit was fun! I made some paper masks in a tear drop kind of shape and used a bit of rolled washi tape to adhere them to my page temporarily!
Then I got out my trusty brayer and rolled the entire page with white acrylic paint. I only did this fairly thin, watered it down with water slightly!

Then, I peeled off the masks and voila, I got some bursts of bright which I could now highlight! I used a black, watercolour pencil to add some lines and trace around the shapes.

The white paint faded a little, but I actually liked the background with a bit of that gorgeous colour showing through, so I tried to highlight the shapes further by using a water brush and tracing all of the black lines. Then, I painted some white acrylic paint around the edges of the black lines and shapes. I also did a little more stencilling, stamping and highlights in the shapes, and went around the edge of the page with the black water colour pencil and smudged this line a little with a little water and my finger.
I finished off by adding some stamped quotes around the image, and I am happy with the way it turned out!!!

3.9.15 THE HANDS OF TIME!!!

Well, I can't believe how long it's been since i posted an art journal entry here on my blog. I think I have completed a few since Feb. I'm sure I have????
Anyway, I started this one on Sunday while scrapping at the lovely Vicki's Scrap Matrix studio! I had a technique i wanted to try which I saw on Pinterest from: Laura Lein-Svencner . She starts with some collage on a canvas and I love what she ends up with. I started this page in the same way, and then it just took on a life of it's own. I've had the groovy little wooden clock hands from Kaszazz for ages, happy to have found a use for them. I used lots of paint, Gesso, some yummy new stencils from The Crafter's Workshop, Texture paste, Stamps from Kaszazz and Dylusions and the alphas are Gold, heat embossed!
here is my page!!!

February 16th 2015: Art Journal entry for Journal Journey

I am so in love with mixed media, and at the moment, brights!!!
For this page, we were asked to experiment with Glad wrap backgrounds, backgrounds in general and then to have a play with different handwriting techniques and styles!

To make this page, I painted acrylic paints onto some glad wrap, spritzed with water and placed on my page. I scrunched in places and then left to dry overnight. The result was awesome in itself, but only just in the early stages!!! I then added DISTRESS STAINS around the edges and filled in any white, gesso bits. I swiped some Magenta acrylic paint on with a credit card, stamped some paint on with bubble wrap and sprayed some color shine on through a stencil. I also did some Color shine drips with a pipette.

I made a mask out of scrap paper and dabbled some paint around it, and then traced around the pattern with black marker. I've just got my hands on some 3D Matte Gel, and used some of this through a honey comb stencil. It dries opaque and then I used some metallic rub ons on top.
I finished off with some Distress Inks through a Hessian stencil and then went to town with some journalling.I love this quote and had fun using a marker to try my hand at some creative writing. I found a couple of little transparencies in my stash to add a finishing touch. I'm quite happy with the way this one turned out!!!

(February 8th 2015) What a great day I had with like minded scrappy friends yesterday!

I didn't get much done, but had a very exciting time talking about exciting things to come! My lovely friend, Vicki gave me some  products to play with and I came up with this gorgeous tag using a Julie Nutting tag pad!

Here is close up of the tag, showing the gorgeous pink in the Metallic rub ons. I've also used some Lindy's sunburst spritz in a few colours, a Maya Road & Heidi Swapp stencil, gorgeous stamps by La Blanche and washi tape .I am in love with the flowers and tiny little key. I re-coloured my ribbon with some of the Lindy's spritz, just gorgeous! I have also blended some Victorian Velvet, Distress ink around the edge of the tag.
I'm hoping you can see some of the shimmer and shine in thes pic!!!

All about ART JOURNALING GROUP  ON FACEBOOK!!!

So I'm going a little crazy for Art Journaling at the moment and I've got myself so confused by joining 3 sites, not 2! But that's ok, I'm learning a little bit of everything from each site. So much inspiration. Each site offers different imspiration and techniques and challenges and I love it. There are so many talented people out there, it is amazing.
So here is my page for the first challenge in this site: We had to download a collage sheet provided and use at least one image on the sheet.

I have a detailed description of my how I did this here as I find I would never remember every single layer I did otherwise!
1. I attatched old book pages to my journal pages using Plaid Royal Coat Antique Decoupage finish. (I like the ease of use of this medium for sticking and giving an Antique finish over the top.
2.I then blended Distress Ink, Tea Dye over pages and edges. ( Loved the resist effect from the Royal Coat.)
3.I blended a 2nd Distress Ink colour over the top-Vintage Photo.
4.I used up some retired Kaszazz rub ons -clock and frames.
5.Stamped large Roman Clock stamps in Archival ink, but think they've disappeared under the layers..LOL
6.I stamped the kaszazz cog stamps in Staz on ink and coloured In areas with a candle. (Went around the Journey rub on with candle too!)
7. Sprayed Dylusions-Chocolate over the top and then wiped over candle areas to show resist.
8. Kaszazz diamond stencil with Gold Acrylic Paint dabber and Antique Bronze Distress Stain.
9. Went over the collage images randomly with some Crackle Accents.
10. Then I blended some Vintage Photo ink over the crackle accents once it was dry.
13.I dribble some Dylusions ink down the page & added more rub ons.
14. My quote is stamped using the kids' stamp set and black acrylic paint and other Kaszazz words, (from the Journey Background stamp,) are stamped randomly using Staz on black ink.

I just love the way the Crackle resist has worked with the collage images here!!!
The longer you leave the Crackle accents, the better it cracks and looks. This pic above is after about an hour. It is just starting to work. The images at top are after it's been left overnight!

JOURNAL JOURNEY WEEK 3 January 17th 2015

This week in the Journal Journey was all about playing with the resist techniques we have been exploring, and using our 2 colours in a varying mediums.
First make is a tag inspired by the Journal Journey.
Have soooo enjoyed this journey so far, and haven't put this many mediums on one page ever, I think ,so it was awesome to just experiment and watch the transformation!
On My tag, I used a large white rub on, then sprayed with some Glimmer Mists in 2 colours. I stamped some words and white embossed! I Distress inked the edges.

On my journal page, there is some crayon resist & white rub ons, sprays of Glimmer mists over the top. Then for my stencil, I used a negative from some die cut alphas & white acrylic paint. Once that was dry I used the stencil again with some Glimmer Mist spray. My 'found' objects for stamping were a piece of a take away coffee cup which had cool dimples in it, an onion bag which I held on the page and dabbed Distress ink through. I also had a finished paper towel roll on my desk so used that with some orange Distress paint. My pink starbursts are made with the edge of an old credit card and some paint. There's also some clear embossing which I covered up and more inspirational words I've white embossed !!! The edges are blended with Distress Ink!

I love the idea of experimenting on tags, but never know what to do with them, so this idea of incorporating them into my art journal is awesome, and I will do it more!
.................................................................................................................................................................
I have decided to create this new page for my blog for all my Art Journaling and mixed media projects. I am really enjoying the process and since starting the Journal Journey 2015 with Kreative Koncepts on the 1st day of 2015, I am really motivated and enjoying the ride. I will post all  my mixed media here to keep it separate from scrapbooking etc!
Here is a page I did last month, inspired by Pinterest!!!

My background started
because I was using up some old ink pads and didn't want them to go to waste, so I thought, hmmm, I will make a background. It sat there dormant for a few weeks until one day looking through some Pinterest boards an image caught my eye! I left the boards and just created!
I always prime my pages with Gesso, and stick 2 pages of my journal together with glue to make one page to keep it strong.
I've used a Kaszazz stencil, and watercolour pencils for the circles. Some rub ons and stamps for quotes. (Some cute little Dear Lizzy stamps for text in background). The girl is hand drawn, (my 3rd attempt at this), and I've coloured her hair with water colour pencils, crayons and highlighted with a white gel pen! I used a perma marker in black to outline things to finish off!!!

3/01/2015

Here are a couple of tags I created for the Journal Journey!!! You may have seen them on my home page, these pics show a little more detail!
This one is using a candle as a resist with Distress Inks!
This one is using a stencil with vaseline, and acrylic paints for a resist!!!
