I've joined another Art Journal Challenge & inspiration site on Facebook

I'm loving all the Art Journal Inspiration around me right now and It's been so freeing, (if that's a word!) for me. I have been playing with all my Mixed Media supplies and amazed at the creations I can achieve by just playing and doing! Here's a sneak peak, and the full page views are in my Art Journals and Mixed Media page here: http://tanscreationsjournal.blogspot.com.au/p/art-journaling.html

Scrapbooking Memories Honourable Mention

I am so excited! This month's Scrapbooking Memories Magazine features the Honourable Mentions from the Masters Challenge for 2014. I am featured in the Challenge 1 category, which was to use a 5x7" photo on a layout!
This is a favourite pic of mine from 2 Christmases ago in Adelaide. My parents with Taylah and Jack! If you click on this link or go to the Published Work tab on my home page, you can see that the Heidi Swapp, Memory File I have used opens up to hide some more photos and journalling.

And because i can share now, here is a sneak peak at my other entries. Will have to keep trying next year!!!

Jot Magazine January Mood

Wow, the colours of the Jot mood boards are really rocking these last few months, and I can't help but be totally inspired by them!!! The last week here in Darwin has brought abundant rain, and I have been lucky enough to fit alot of crafting time in!
Here is the January Mood board over at Jot Magazine:

And here is my take on the board using yummy papers by Heidi Swapp and Kaisercraft! Matching Kaiser collectables, cardstock & twine from Kaszazz. There is a cute little die cut frame and a flair, from Flutterby Designs, Portacraft tiny rub on alphas, chalkboard stickers, paperclip, watercolour paints & I just love the little confetti stars and tiny glitter stickers I grabbed at the $2 shop a few days ago! (Gotta love using stash right away!!!) Oh and the gorgeous MERCI-glitter chipboard alphas were a great find at an op shop for $2.

Working on my December Daily album!!!

Well I had the album sorted, thanks to Heidi Swapp and her marvellous Memory File system!!! Love the BELIEVE MEMORY FILE KIT! have now printed most of the photos thanks to my little Epson Picture Mate, which I love!!!! And here's a few pics of the first couple of pages!
 Front cover!!
Day 1. hubby puts the tree up! I cut a smaller memory file into 2 pcs. So this page folds down to reveal Day 2 below!!!
Taylah cooks and we all add our ornaments and decorations to the tree!!
Day 3. I have stuck a smaller Memory file in backwards for variation and photos are of my daughter's last netball game for the School Competition!
On this page I have put some photo protector sheets in with some eyelets to make more photo space!
On the facing page, I have used the photo stack from the kit and added a few embellies! The arrow is one of Heidi Swapps color magic embellishments, with Distress Ink rubbed over it.

Kreative Koncepts Journal Journey 2015

I have been so inspired and motivated during the first few days of this glorious New Year. We have had soooo much rain here in the Far North, that there really has been nothing too important to do but play with my stash!!!! The inspiration is thanks to the new class over at Kreative Koncepts, called Journal Journey 2015. In week 1 we have been asked to play with a few different resist techniques! I couldn't wait to play!

The first of the 3 tags was using a candle as I couldn't find a white crayon!

I stamped my flowers, from {Kaszazz} and quote in some dye ink and coloured them in. Then I blended over them with some distress inks: Peeled Paint and Stormy Sky to reveal the resist!

2nd tag I tried the vaseline resist for the first time and love the results!! I used a Kaisercraft stencil and smeared the vaseline over with a pallet knife/ ice cream stick!!! Then I watered down some acrylic paint and lightly brushed over the top! I flicked another colour of paint on with the brush and let dry. Once dry, you wipe the vaseline off with a wet one, and are left with the white flowers. I added a few more little stamps and some cardstock dots with glossy accents to finish off!

3rd tag was a little off the beaten track, a few more than 2 colours but I was so motivated, I used a few different types of inks, rub ons and an orange crayon to colour in flower centres.

Now for my journal page which I created today!!!

I always stick two pages of my journal together to act as a page. Gives it more strength for lots of layers and wet mediums!
I Gesso'ed the background first and then stamped my images in Staz On ink!!! This time I found a watercolour crayon but discovered after blending the Distress Ink that it didn't work! So I grabbed a baby wipe and wiped over the areas I wanted white, it came off beautifully because of the Gesso, and so just another way to interpret this challenge!!!
