Kraft Plus, Plus one colour challenge

Hi all, can you believe it's the first of June? Half way through the year..too scary! Today I am up on the Kraft Plus blog with my Design Team sample of our June challenge. It's Kraft, Plus one colour. check out the inspiring challenge board:

Now I was down to the wire with timing this month...again, just have had a very busy time lately!!! My friend and I hosted our very own, very first scrapbooking retreat here in Darwin over the weekend, it went awesome by the way, but wow, alot of work involved and it's taking me awhile to not feel tired!!!
So this layout was pulled together very quickly, just by opening a few of my embellishment drawers, paper scrap drawer and I have a little folder with odd journal spots, which also came in handy.

The first thing I did was stencil the words on my background, using the Kaszazz, Destiny stencil and some Distress Oxide inks. So smooth on the Kraft background!!! Then I added some texture paste through a Kaszazz stencil. For some colour drops, I added some Gelatos with water and let it run, but then covered most of it up with the photo. One of my favourite things about this layout, is that I used up a few little things I have had sitting in my stash forever!! Can you see part of the little, blue, cocktail umbrella sticking out under the word Magic, above!!!??? I also used a piece of it under the bottom of the pic.

The butterflies are from an ephemera pack from Grace Taylor, (Grant Archival), I've had them for sooo long!!! I added some art marker to change the colour in the middle from yellow to blue! There's some sequins, some washi tape from D-Lish scraps, and some flicks of the stem of the Dylusions bottle.

There's a little banner from a Kaisercraft collectables pack and a doily and a little journal spot from Autumn Leaves, which I had stamped and put in my little folder for a rainy day. It's actually kind of refreshing and quick working with just one colour. You are able to add black/white and neutrals to your project to help it come together. I hope you can find time to visit the k+ blog and check out the challenge samples from the other DT members.

CSI CASE FILE NO. 192

Hello, I've just snuck in with this layout in the nick of time for Case file no. 192 over at CSI-Color Stories Inspiration. I loved the colour palette with this one, it was actually quite a challenge in the end, but I got it done, Yay! Here's the Case File:

And here's my take on the challenge!

I'm actually quite happy with this one. Also, because it tells not such a happy story which I normally tell. Poor Taylah had a rough year in 2013 with her teeth, She had so many trips to the dentist and orthodontist, and had to have a few teeth pulled out. She is so petrified of the Dentist, it was a very harrowing year!!! In this story, she was in Hopsital, in Day Surgery, and had just had 2 teeth pulled, one was an adult tooth, which she wont get back, and she  was only 10 yrs old!

I popped my journaling on a tag behind the layers! you can also see as part of my TESTIMONY, that I put some of the journaling in the bird cage. I used all of the colours, and my EVIDENCE IS: newspaper/text print, (my newsprint stamped background and patterned paper!) I have birds, a bird cage, a heart, (2 Crafty Chipboard), I distressed the edges of my paper and tore them slightly. I also have a bow on my journal tag, which is twine from Kaszazz, and eyelets and brads which are all metal!!! (How glad am I to bust some of my very old stash using up some of those!!!)

Oh and there are also plenty of flowers on there, from Kaszazz, Prima & Scrap Matrix. My papers are from Kaszazz, Amy Tangerine and Rosie's Studio, cardstock, Kaszazz. There's washi tape, Gesso, Dylusions spray inks and Perfect Pearls, (Background), Grant Archival & Amy Tangerine Alphas, a Dear Lizzy Tag & some inks by Ranger and colorbox!!! TFL!
